Faye Zhang

Coordinator

Faye’s journey to a career in digital media is quite interesting. She came to Boston University with an interest in becoming a political journalist. However, she felt limited by the storytelling capabilities of the written word and sought different ways of communication. This drove her to an interest in filmmaking which eventually became one of her two majors in school. She immersed herself in all aspects, and could often be seen lugging heavy cameras around campus. In 2015 she was awarded a grant from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for her work as a Director, Cinematographer and Editor.

She also earned a degree in Finance, which she describes from a perspective of storytelling with indisputable facts, with numbers as a universal language. It was the combination of creative and analytical storytelling that ultimately led her to a career in digital marketing.

Faye is a world traveler and an adventurous eater, who enjoys the surprise of ordering food and cocktails before she has any idea what they are. I’m told the success rate is right around 50% for this method, but the fun is in the anticipation. It’s no surprise to hear that she enjoys watching movies, and when we discovered a mutual appreciation for the work of Hayao Miyazaki, I understood her fondness for the visual aspect of storytelling.

I’m happy to have Faye on our team, and I’m excited to see the stories she will help us tell.
