Derek Sullivan

Business Development Representative

Growing up in Buffalo NY, Derek became passionate for music at a young age. He could probably start a one-man band with all the instruments he’s learned to play – from the piano to the French horn. He graduated from SUNY Buffalo in 2013 and moved to New York City where he explored everything from media buying, to sales, to mixology (he makes a mean Chai Tai).

When Derek got bored of the city life, he traveled to Germany in 2015 and taught English to local German teens and adults, as well as Syrian refugees. He was a popular teacher, and his classes got all the way up to 20 people in size! After a year of pretzels and beer, Derek found himself back in NYC. Still passionate for music, he would produce beats & DJ on the weekends (believe me, the beats are sick).

In 2018, Derek took a risk and moved to Brookline, MA, without knowing anyone in the Boston area. When he interviewed at Gupta Media, he immediately knew it was the right fit. A brand new position was built around his skills and experience.

In his free time, you can find Derek bouncing from concert to concert. His love for modern hip hop, indie rock, and electronic music has him at as many shows as he can fit in his schedule. It’s clear that Derek has had an action-packed and exciting past, and we can’t wait to see where his future takes him at Gupta Media. Oh, and you better not mess with him… he’s a 2nd degree black belt!
