There are many places where designers look for inspiration, let’s take a look at the top 5 design resources our team turns to when we need to get inspired.

Dribbble

  • Dribbble is at the heart of the design community. It allows designers to show off their current projects and get feedback from their peers around the globe. 
  • Provide blog posts on current design trends and creative problem solving.
  • We look to Dribbble for their up and coming ideas. Whether it’s a new style of illustration or tips about a smoother design process, with a community so large, Dribbble is bound to bring something new to the table.

Behance

  • Behance is essentially a social media platform for the design community. They’ve been making it easy to showcase your work and follow other members of the community since Adobe launched the site back in 2005.
  • There’s no shortage of creative inspiration here, with projects ranging from branding, typography, and even package design. They also have resources such as templates, typefaces, and tool kits. 
  • Our team loves turning to Behance when we are looking for inspiration, not to mention the endless amount of free downloads provided.

AIGA

  • The American Institute of Graphic arts, or AIGA as it’s more commonly referred to, is considered to be the pinnacle of design resources. It’s actually a professional organization for design, with more than 70 chapters full of members  coming from all backgrounds. Students, design educators, freelance designers, agency creatives, and business owners can all be involved and there’s certainly something for everyone.
  • These opportunities include: conferences, competitions, professional development, design trends, student resources, and many more.
  • We use AIGA to stay up to date on what’s happening in the design world and how we can get involved in a number of opportunities. 

siteInspire

  • SiteInspire prides itself on being a showcase of the finest web and interactive designs. Users can upload their projects to share with the community as well as view what other designers have uploaded.
  • You can narrow down your search by style, subject, and platform, which makes it a breeze to find exactly what you are looking for.
  • As an agency that strives to push the boundaries of web design, we consistently turn to their collection of web and interactive design work during our research process as a jumping off point for our inspiration.

Communication Arts

  • Last but certainly not least is Communication Arts! Communication Arts is a premier source of inspiration for everyone involved in visual communication. CA provides multiple forms of research through their website, magazine, and newsletters. 
  • On their website you can browse through several different areas of design depending on what you’re looking for. 
  • Additionally, each month the CA magazine features a specific area of design,  spotlights a trendy typeface, as well as an interview with a designer.
  • With a gallery filled with the latest and greatest design projects, Communication Arts has proven itself to be an excellent design resource.
